COTTON

Cotton fabrics

Advantages:

1. Hygroscopicity

Cotton fibers have good hygroscopicity. Under normal conditions, the fiber can absorb water in the surrounding atmosphere, and its moisture content is 8-10%, so that it contacts the human skin and makes people feel soft and not stiff. If the humidity of the cotton fabric increases and the ambient temperature is high, the water content of the fiber will evaporate and decompose, so that the fabric maintains a water balance state, which makes people feel comfortable.

2. Resolution

Because cotton fibers are poor conductors of heat and electricity, the heat transfer coefficient is extremely low, and because cotton fibers themselves have porosity and high elasticity, a large amount of air can accumulate between the fibers, and air is a poor conductor of heat, and the electricity, so purely textile cotton fibers have good thermal insulation, and wearing cotton fabrics makes people feel warm.

3. Heat resistance

Pure cotton fabric has good heat resistance. When it is below 110 °C, it will cause water to evaporate in the fabric and will not damage the fiber. Therefore, the cotton fabric is worn at normal temperature, and washing and dyeing do not affect the fabric. Improve the washability and durability of cotton fabrics.

4. Alkali resistance

Cotton fibers are highly resistant to alkalis. The cotton fiber does not break in the alkaline solution. This property is beneficial for washing and sanitizing dirt after washing, and it can also dye and print pure cotton fabrics. Different methods are being developed to produce more new varieties of cotton.

5. Hygiene

Cotton fiber is a natural fiber whose main component is cellulose, containing a small amount of waxy substance and nitrogen and pectin. Cotton fabric has been inspected and practiced in many ways. The fabric comes into contact with the skin without irritation, without side effects, and is beneficial to the human body for a long time and has good hygienic performance.

Disadvantages:

1. It is easy to wrinkle, and it is more difficult to smooth after wrinkle.

2. Easy to shrink, the shrinkage of cotton clothes is 2% to 5%, after special treatment, or washing exception treatment.

3. Easy deformation, lack of flexibility, cotton clothes are easily deformed, especially in summer, because the fabric is relatively thin.

4. Easy to stick, hard to remove completely

5. Not resistant to acid, when concentrated sulfuric acid is dyed with cotton fabric, the cotton fabric is burned into holes. When accidentally catching acids (such as vinegar) on clothes, they should be cleaned in time to avoid fatal damage to clothes caused by acetic acid.
